In 1996, I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, or SLE. This was a very painful diagnosis for two reasons. First, the disease itself is very painful. It woke me up out of a sound sleep, starting in my hands and then radiating all through out my body. Second was the fact that I had just adopted a newborn boy 6 months earlier (I also had a 10 month old boy). The joint pain made it very difficult to care for myself, let alone two growing boys.

For years I tried the conventional methods of treatment, anti-inflammatories, anti-malarials, short term steroids and more recently, methotrexate. I have had tendon transplants on both thumbs due to tendon ruptures. Though I have joint pain throughout my body at various times, I predominantly have daily pain in my hands and wrists

I have been a nurse for 17 years. I took four years off shortly after the diagnosis. I returned to work through a registry so I could make my own hours and call myself off if I was in too much pain. Since I have been back to work I’ve had to be off for two months or more three times. This last time I decided to try something different. My neighbor told me about Geeta Ayurvedic Healing. I knew if I returned to my doctor, she would prescribe an increase in my medication. I already have to get blood drawn every 8 weeks because possible liver toxicity with the methotrexate.

I started taking Rishi products in October of 2004. I began to feel better soon after and decided to stop the conventional medications. Though I’m still experiencing some pain in my hand, the one thing I have back is my brain. Since I was diagnosed, I’ve had numerous headaches, low grade fevers, swollen glands, mouth ulcers, pasty tongue, constipation and have battled fatigue. Basic cognition , planning, and memory recall were all a struggle. Rishi products have helped tremendously in restoring my mental health. Because the change is so evident to me, I have become more committed to learning more about basic health and nutrition.
